Dr Masaaki Hatsumi

Dr Masaaki HatsumiDr Masaaki Hatsumi was born Yoshiaki Hatsumi on the 2nd December 1931 in Noda City, Chiba Prefecture, Japan.

He graduated from Meji University of Medicine in Tokyo, as a Hone-tsugi (Orthopedic Doctor). He is respected as an accomplished practitioner of the ancient Japanese medical techniques of Seikotsu (natural healing methods).

Grandmaster Hatsumi is the founder and leader of the International Bujinkan Dojo Organisation. He inherited nine ancient warrior traditions on the death of his master Toshitsugu Takamatsu in 1972.

Budo Taijutsu encompasses these nine traditions of feudal Japan and integrates physical, intellectual and spiritual elements for personal growth and development. It is practiced by more than 10,000 people around the world.

Long-time students have come to realize that the ideals, skills, and philosophy of this once secret and enigmatic art are not learned simply for self-defense, but rather personal growth. The physical lessons of Taijutsu forge the heart, mind, and spirit into tools to live a sincere and just life.
