Practitioner Training

What is Amatsu?

A fusion of Eastern Philosophy and Western Science, Amatsu therapy is a time-honoured remedy for modern conditions.

Based on ancient Japanese techniques, it is a uniquely beneficial corrective treatment, used primarily to treat a wide range of health problems and injuries. Amatsu can also help return energy and vitality to the body and combat stress.

Could you become an Amatsu practitioner?

If you have a fundamental interest in human anatomy, and a deep-seated desire to treat health problems and injuries in others, you could train to become an Amatsu practitioner.

You will learn to practice each of the defining elements of Amatsu, acting as a catalyst to kick start the body’s own innate healing ability. All you need are basic numeracy and literacy skills and the ability to commit to an intensive two year training programme.

The rewards from your investment will be substantial: a formal qualification ratified by the ATA and a flexible, uniquely rewarding profession.

What does the training involve?

The course comprises distance learning modules for Anatomy & Physiology and the theory and practical application of Amatsu therapy, 10 two day practical workshops per annum for two years (eight modules, revision sessions and examinations) completion of case studies and directed homework. Each module covers a different area of the body. Sessions on body language assessment, personality profiling, basic counselling skills and practical guidance on how to market and build a clinic will also be provided.

Year one – Anma

The first year concentrates on learning skills of palpation, appraisal of client’s problems, soft tissue and mobilisation techniques to correct those problems. At the end of year one, after successfully completing set homework, carrying out the required number of case studies and passing theory and practical exams, a qualification to practice Anma is attained.

Year two – Seitai

In the second year, study of appraisal techniques continues and the practical aspects of correcting the ligamentous system of the body are also taught. At the end of year two, after successful completion of homework, case studies and exams, the full qualification in Amatsu Therapy is attained.

The Teachers

The team consists of Sandy Denyer, Sarah Wyndham and Ann Russell who together have over twenty years experience in teaching and practising Amatsu.
Their careers span the fitness, pharmaceutical and orthopaedic industries. Current interests include homeopathy, nutritional therapy, Neuro Linguistic Programming, healthy eating and an active involvement in the future of the Amatsu Therapy Association.
The team's differing backgrounds and interests blend together to ensure that the learning needs and style of every student are addressed.
The combination of the teacher’s clinical experience which includes treatment of athletes, sportspeople, pre and postnatal women, babies, children and home visits to the physically challenged or elderly, means that students will gain a broad understanding of the many different treatment protocols required when treating a range of clients in a busy clinic.
The Practitioner course is an incredible life changing journey. It's hard work but very rewarding and a lot of fun. Being part of the course will allow you to learn more about yourself, your fellow colleagues and make new and lasting friendships.

The Amatsu Academy is affiliated to the Amatsu Therapy Association (ATA).
